MzansiHavn Community Guidelines & Child Safety Standards
Last updated: 29 September 2026
This document has two jobs. First, it tells you, as a MzansiHavn user, what is expected of you and what we do about it if you do not meet that. Second, it is the published child-safety and abuse-prevention standard that Google Play requires social and dating apps to make public, and that we self-certify against in the Google Play Console before publishing the app. Keep both purposes in mind: nothing here should be vague, because both users and platform reviewers rely on it being specific.
1. Who this applies to
Everyone who uses MzansiHavn. No exceptions, including us. If a MzansiHavn team member ever needs to interact with a user for support or safety reasons, the same standards of respectful conduct apply to them.
2. Zero tolerance: child sexual abuse and exploitation
MzansiHavn has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content or behavior that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits a minor. This includes:
Any account belonging to, or impersonating, someone under 18.
Any content depicting, or that could be reasonably understood to depict, a minor in a sexual context.
Any attempt to solicit, groom, or arrange to meet a minor.
If we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM or child endangerment on MzansiHavn, we will:
Immediately remove the content and/or suspend the account involved.
Preserve the relevant evidence as required by law.
Report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or the relevant South African authorities, as legally required.
Cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations.

3. Age requirement
MzansiHavn is for adults 18 and older, full stop. We enforce this with a date-of-birth check at signup; anyone who enters a date showing they are under 18 is blocked from continuing and offered immediate account deletion. As a second, independent check, a verification selfie is also automatically screened for a plausible adult age. An account flagged this way is held for manual human review, never automatically banned off that signal alone, given estimating someone's age from a photo is never perfectly precise. Misrepresenting your age to get around either check is a Terms of Service violation and grounds for a permanent ban the moment we discover it, at any point, not just at signup.
4. Respect and honesty
Be who you say you are. Use your own photos and real information. Impersonation, "catfishing," and materially misrepresenting yourself (marital status, intentions, age, identity) are not allowed.
Be respectful. Harassment, bullying, unwanted sexually explicit messages, threats, hate speech (based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic), and any form of discrimination have no place on MzansiHavn.
No violence or threats. Content or messages that threaten, incite, or glorify violence against any person or group will be removed and the account banned.
No promotion of self-harm. This includes content that encourages, glorifies, or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm, disordered eating, or dangerous physical challenges. If you are struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a local support service. This is not a rule we enforce coldly.
5. No scams, no solicitation
Never ask another user for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking details, or any financial information, and do not send any either. If someone asks you for this, report them immediately; it is one of the most common ways people are defrauded through dating apps, and we take it seriously.
No commercial solicitation, advertising, or promoting another app/service/business through your profile or messages. This includes arrangements where companionship or a relationship is offered in exchange for money, gifts, or financial support ("sugar dating" and similar).
No spam, bulk messaging, or automated/bot activity.
No using MzansiHavn to campaign for, fundraise for, or otherwise promote a political party, candidate, or ballot campaign.
6. Photos and content
Photos must be real, recent, and of yourself. No photos of other people, public figures, or content you do not have the right to use.
No nudity or sexually explicit content in your profile photos.
No content depicting illegal activity or graphic violence. (Self-harm content specifically is covered in ยง4.)
7. How reporting and enforcement works
Anyone can report a profile, message, or photo directly in the app (the flag icon, or from a match's profile). Reports go straight to our safety review process. The person you report is never told who reported them, and (deliberately, to protect you from retaliation) you cannot see the status of a report you have filed after submitting it, only that it was received.
Blocking someone immediately hides you from each other in Discover, ends any current match between you, and is never disclosed to the person you blocked.
We review reports and take proportionate action, which may include: a warning, removing specific content, temporarily suspending the account, or permanently banning it. Severity and repeat violations both weigh into that decision.
Some violations (anything involving a minor, credible threats of violence, or content that may be illegal) are escalated immediately and reported to the appropriate authorities regardless of any other action taken in-app.
8. Dating safety
We encourage everyone to:
Video chat before meeting in person.
Meet for the first time in a public place, and tell a friend or family member where you are going (MzansiHavn's Safety Centre has a built-in way to share your date plan via your phone's own share options, and to check in afterward).
Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it is okay to leave, cancel, or block.
Never send money to someone you have not met in person, no matter how convincing their story is.
Stay in public until you are sure. South African Police Service statistics for the first quarter of 2026 record that 47.2% of rapes happened at the home of the victim or of the person who attacked them, usually by someone the victim already knew. Going home with someone, or inviting them to yours, is the point at which every precaution above stops helping.
Know the emergency numbers before you need them. "Get help now", reachable from anywhere in the app, lists every emergency and gender-based-violence helpline published by the South African government, including one that reaches the GBV Command Centre with no airtime at all.
These are suggestions, not safeguards we are able to enforce. MzansiHavn does not run criminal background checks, cannot verify what anyone tells you, is not present when you meet, and is not responsible for what another person chooses to do. Clause 8 of the Terms of Service sets this out in full.
9. Changes to these Guidelines
We may update these Guidelines as MzansiHavn grows. Material changes will be communicated in-app before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
10. Language
These Guidelines are written and published in English only. The App's interface is available in additional languages for convenience, but no translated version of these Guidelines is authoritative. The English text is the sole version we rely on, and it governs in the event of any conflict, discrepancy, or translation error.
